Hollows Series
Winters in Pennsylvania oscillate between ice, snow and rain. This fluctuation in extreme temperature creates the dreaded road hazard - the pothole! Repetitive freezing and thawing causes the potholes to crumble from the inside out resulting in cavernous hollows. We inevitably encounter hollows along our chosen paths. These hollows represent the unexpected obstacles that we experience in the journey of our lives. How we respond and cope with these hollows determines the peace and harmony in our lives. In this series I photographed my mile-long stone driveway’s potholes filled with water, bubbles, ice and debris. Then, I took those images to the screen to enhance what lies within these hollows…
