I photographed Pennsylvania’s Unami Forest and then merged, layered and digitally enhanced to create the resulting impressionistic images in the Luminescence series. Contrary to the dark and threatening forests depicted in fables and movies, to me the woods have always been an inviting place, a refuge for enlightenment and reverie. The firefly, an unassuming insect by day and radiant illuminator by night shows us things are not always the way they seem. This series explores and transcends the real with the unreal by blurring the boundaries of certainty and fantasy
